Consumer Information Page

As a consumer you are responsible for:

bullet pointRecruiting, interviewing, screening, selecting, training, scheduling and supervising the Personal Assistants of your choice.

bullet pointTerminating Personal Assistants if necessary.

bullet pointHire enough PA(s) for back-up coverage to ensure coverage at all times. Back-ups must be authorized to work with WNYILP prior to providing services.

bullet pointObtain at least one (1) previous employment reference and one (1) personal reference.

bullet pointSigning a Personal Assistant Agreement with your PA(s) clearly outlining their required duties.

bullet pointScheduling their PA(s) to meet their needs within the framework of their care plan, within the authorized hours established by Erie County Department of Social Services, PCA Unit.

bullet pointEnsure their PA(s) meet with a CDPAP staff person to complete all necessary employment paperwork and to receive an official start date.

bullet pointWestern New York Independent Living, Inc. staff and facilities are available to assist in resolving issues or concerns that are unable to be resolved between Participants and their Personal Care Aides.
