Topic: Western New York Independent Living Project Hires New Deputy Executive Director.
Full Text: The Western New York Independent Living, Inc. (WNYIL) announces the appointment of Dr. Nora DeVoe as their new Deputy Executive Director as well as the Director of the Community Development department. Dr. Nora DeVoe will be Responsible for the development and implementation of all community development activities, including the agency's membership drives, special events, community education programming, Smart-House, community foundation grants, capital campaigns, information that is disseminated to the media and community that is related to the functioning and events of WNYIL and to perform the duties of the Executive Director in his/her absence.
Dr. Nora DeVoe is a Gerontologist who specializes in family caregiver issues, advocacy and assisted living at home for over 25 years. She has her PhD in Health Care Administration and her Master's degree in Gerontology and Health Care Management. Nora is very active in the local community on issues affecting the elderly and their families and is nationally recognized by the American Society on Aging, the National Council of Aging and the National Association of Private Geriatric Care Managers. She writes a monthly column for "After 50 News," and will be a beneficial and welcome addition to the WNYIL Family of Agencies.
The WNY Independent Living Inc. family of agencies includes the Independent Living Center, Native American Independent Living Services, Mental Health PEER Connection, and Independent Living of Niagara County. The WNYIL is Western New York's largest cross-disability, consumer-directed, non-residential organization for persons with disabilities. At the WNYIL, individuals of all ages and all types of disabilities learn to exercise their freedom of choice to take control of their own lives in order to live more productively in, and contribute to, the community.
