Service: Recreational Peer Support Groups

Purpose:
To provide mutual support and socialization between persons with disabilities in a barrier free environment and assist consumers to participate freely in the community.

Method:
1. Persons with disabilities who express an interest in being part of a peer group should be informed of the current groups that meet at the WNYIL.
2. Interested consumers will be informed that groups are self-directed and cross disability.
3. Staff to the requested group will refer consumers. Transportation may be provided to the consumer if slots are available (contact the Transportation Coordinator).
