Starting in late 2016 with a $250,000 New York State grant, Mental Health PEER Connection (MHPC) and persons in recovery from abusive behaviors developed an exciting new effort to help combat the opioid epidemic in our country today: Addict 2 Addict, Family 2 Family (A2A, F2F). This Erie-County-based program employs persons who are in recovery from addiction to provide a quick reaction to assist persons who have determined they are READY to beat the addition.
This team of recovering Addicts will:
1. Share their experiences, and providing support, resources, and advocacy for the persons who wish to recover, as they navigate the many avenues that they may take, to help prevent relapse and a potential overdose;
2. Provide peer counseling, support, and knowledge for the family members and loved ones who want to help but find the frustration difficult to manage.
Individuals can call Addict 2 Addict directly at 716-836-2726 when they are READY to choose a path of recovery. You may have to leave a message and our team will get back to you.
Addict 2 Addict, Family 2 Family has been funded as part of New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s $1 million initiative to expand access to opioid addiction treatment services and family supports in four areas across the State. The regional initiatives were developed by the NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS), and implemented through the Erie County Department of Mental Health.
