Our Vision: We strive to be a catalyst for individual and systems change, enhancing the quality of life for persons with disabilities. In doing so, we aim to respect diversity, promote choice and alternatives for independent living in our region and beyond.
Our Mission: We are a multi-cultural, grassroots and peer-directed civil rights organization. We provide a full range of assistance, programs and services to all individuals with disabilities. ILGR helps all people with disabilities to realize their life choices through four core services: information and referral, independent living skills, community / systems advocacy and peer counseling.
ILGR supports people with disabilities to exercise more freedom and control over their lives. Therefore, whenever possible, individuals receiving services shall be instrumental in identifying needed services and the delivery of these services. Individuals will be encouraged to:
Develop their own goals
Direct delivery of services using their own abilities
Experience self advocacy at all times
ILGR ensures equal access for all people regardless of their disability or funding source. This includes both communication and physical access to the Independent Living services, programs, activities, resources and facilities.
