How We Work

As a family of six agencies, Western New York Independent Living, Inc. aligns its services and programs with the five core services of Independent Living as defined through the Rehabilitation Act of 1973: Peer Counseling, Independent Living Skills, Transition Services, Advocacy, and Information & Referral services.

Independent Living Center of Erie County

Located on Main Street in the City of Buffalo, the Independent Living Center of Erie County offers a range of programs and services that include but are not limited to benefits advisement, Medicaid assistance, transition programs and support groups.

With locations in Batavia and Albion, Independent Living of the Genesee Region is a multi-cultural, grassroots, peer directed, civil rights organization that provides a full range of programs and services to enhance the quality of life for all individuals with disabilities. Services include but are not limited to peer support, transition services, Medicaid and housing assistance, and youth services.

Located on Portage Road in Niagara Falls, the dedicated staff of Independent Living of Niagara County strive to empower persons with disabilities to live, work, and engage within their communities. Services include but are not limited to housing assistance, information and referral services, Veteran directed care, and home health coordination.

Mental Health Peer Connection

Located in the City of Buffalo, Mental Health Peer Connection is a trauma informed intentional peer support program where most of the staff have a mental illness. Offering programs ranging from advocacy and peer counseling to skill building and transitional services, MHPC is a valuable resource for anyone in need of support.

The Niagara Frontier Radio Reading Service provides residents of Western New York and Southern Ontario who are blind or find reading a challenge with 24/7 free access to dozens of local and national print publications.
