Addict 2 Addict, Family 2 Family

Addict 2 Addict, Family 2 Family (A2A, F2F) is a Mental Health PEER Connection (MHPC) Peer-led team serving people with substance abuse disorders and families and loved ones with substance use disorders.

Our Beginning

A2A, F2F was initially funded as part of a 2017 New York Governor Office initiative to expand access to opioid addiction treatment services and family support in four areas across the State. The regional initiatives were developed by the NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) and implemented through the Erie County Department of Mental Health.

The Program

The A2A and F2F teams are available to adults in Erie County who decide they are “Ready” for recovery and a new life. They are matched with certified and trained Peers, who are in recovery themselves or have family members with substance use disorders, who share their recovery experience with those who want to explore the path to recovery. The Peer informs, advocates, and provides counseling to guide individuals as they take their first steps on the path to recovery.

This team of recovering Addicts will:

  1. Share their experiences, and providing support, resources, and advocacy for the persons who wish to recover, as they navigate the many avenues that they may take, to help prevent relapse and a potential overdose;
  2. Provide peer counseling, support, and knowledge for the family members and loved ones who want to help but find the frustration difficult to manage.

When you are “Ready”, call 716-836-2726 to choose your path of recovery.  You may have to leave a message, and our team will get back to you.

Family Forums

A2A, F2F holds monthly public forums in Erie County to provide support to the families and friends of addicts. These forums are inclusive, open discussions to provide information and available resources, while answering participant questions. Friends and family members will also be encouraged to develop strategies to guide the addicts on the path to recovery. There is no cost to attend the event and addicts are also welcome.
