The race for the Mayor of Buffalo is heating up with the Democratic Primary scheduled for Tuesday, June 24. With five candidates on the ballot, every vote counts toward determining who will be on the ballot as the Democratic candidate this fall.
In anticipation of this important primary day, WNYIL held a Meet the Candidates event on Thursday, June 12. All five primary candidates participated in the event (listed in alphabetical order): Sean Ryan, Chris Scanlon (Acting Mayor), Anthony Tyson-Thompson, Garnell Whitfield, and Rasheed Wyatt. The event was facilitated by WNYIL’s Chief Policy Officer Todd Vaarwerk. Watch the event at https://youtu.be/XPPC8GHCzvQ?si=SM2YkDHICUBoWkJ5
Additionally, the June 17 episode of Independent Perspective featured a discussion by Vaarwerk about the Meet the Candidates event and the Democratic Primary. Independent Perspective is Western New York Independent Living’s Weekly Podcast designed to provide updates about agency and community service programs and events.
