On a recent episode of WNYIL’s weekly podcast, Independent Perspective, Doug Bisher, peer support specialist with the Addict 2 Addict program at Independent Living of Niagara County (ILNC), joined the show to talk about the upcoming Cornhole for a Cause fundraiser.

Here are the details:
Saturday, September 27 at Christ Community Church, 140 Genesee Street, Lockport, NY 14094
Registration begins at 11:00 am. Bags fly at 12:00 pm.
$20 entry fee per player, payable at the event

The tournament begins with 4 rounds of round robin play, so you do not need a partner to participate. The algorithm will shuffle you, so you could play with different partners in each round. During the double elimination games, you will be paired with a partner based on the tournament standings.

The intermission will feature an airmail shootout, where you are paired with partner if your raffle ticket is pulled. Players will shoot at a small box with a hole that is the same size as that of a cornhole board.

Pre-registration is encouraged but not necessary. Pre-register on the Scoreholio app or register at the door. It’s your choice. All skill levels are welcome at the event.

Why a cornhole tournament?
According to Bisher, “it’s just a really fun day for people to come out and learn more about their local Independent Living Center and what services they may be eligible for that they may not even know exist”.

In addition to the tournament, the event will feature a basket raffle and a 50/50 raffle. All proceeds support the programs and services at Independent Living of Niagara County.

Listen to Bisher’s full interview on WNY Independent Living’s Independent Perspective podcast from September 5.
