Disability Pride Festival Accessibility Guide
Riverworks is a large indoor and outdoor, concrete and asphalt space by the river. Below, you will find accessibility info about the festival:
Welcome Tent and Information Tables
- The Welcome Tent will be located just outside of the Main Entrance to Riverworks.
- Look for info tables near the main stage and in between the ice rinks. These tables are an extension of the welcome tent with volunteers available to answer questions and provide info about the festival.
- To easily locate the Welcome Tent and Information Tables, look for the balloon bouquets featuring the colors of the Disability Pride Flag.
Transportation: Arriving and Departing
- There is a free Shuttle through Cedar Bus running to and from the MTC at 181 Ellicott Street to Riverworks.
- There is also a Para-Transit Drop Off site located at Riverworks.
- Volunteers will be onsite at both the MTC and at Riverworks to assist with arrivals and departures.
Getting Around the Festival

- Audio versions of the Festival map
- A Tactile Map of the vendor’s area is available at Information Tables upon request.
- Human Guides are available upon request at the following locations:
- Shuttle and PAL Stop at Riverworks
- Welcome Table
- Info Tables (at rink and stage)
- Stairs/Ramp between the rinks and the stage space
Food
- The festival has lots of great food for purchase through The Ward Restaurant and at the Snack Bar located just inside the main entrance to Riverworks.
- We have provided a blender for people who need their food pureed. Ask at the concession stand/snack bar just inside the main entrance for help with having your food blended.
- There are tables where you can sit and eat outside that are not connected to a food vendor. If you need to bring a small amount of your own food to eat, there are places where you can sit to eat it.
Money
- The venue accepts cash and credit cards.
American Sign Language Interpretation
- The Entertainment Stage and Speaker’s Area activities will be ASL interpreted.
- Floating ASL interpreters may be available. Please ask at the Welcome Tent or at one the Information Tables located near the stage area and between the ice rinks.
Sensory Needs
- Calm Cove – Sponsored by Sensational Fun in Orchard Park, will be located in Locker Room #2 in the main hall near the restrooms, and will have a woodland feel to it. It will feature a little fairy sensory garden, along with different tactile media boards and a little area for bubbles.
- Fidgets can be found in the Children’s area
- Noise-canceling headphones can be borrowed from the Information Table near the stage.
Bathrooms
- The Disability Pride Festival is proud to be the first event in New York State to host Momentum Refresh mobile bathroom unit.
- Momentum Refresh is the first universally designed, fully accessible ADA compliant+ mobile restroom with adequate and comfortable changing space for youth and adults.
- Momentum Refresh will be located to the right of the main entrance near the Welcome Tent.
Riverworks Rides
- While the Disability Pride Festival does not operate the rides at Riverworks, we thought you might like to know about them!
- A wheelchair accessible Ferris Wheel is available at Riverworks.
- The Zip Line is also wheelchair accessible for those who can get out of their wheelchair, but it does not provide back support while riding on the zip line.
- Single and tandem kayaks are available for rent, and a handicap-accessible launch is right on the water at Riverworks.
